The new Marine
Trades Building
supports several educational facilities. The Marine Trades Technology Shop
provides instruction in all phases of boat construction and maintenance. The
large shop area features welding equipment, outboard motor test tanks, a
paint spray booth, an electric trolley hoist and complete woodworking
facilities. Also included in the building are a 22 student classroom/seminar
space and a 48 student physics lab. The Multi-Media Lab is a 24-student
computer classroom equipped for use as a long distance learning facility. It
features custom casework, a raised computer floor, an uninterrupted power
unit, and computer terminals at each student station connected to the campus
network.
The Media Center has been renovated to
accommodate a 20 student computer classroom and a 12 station computer
reference room supported by a learning resource specialist as well as a
conventional library and reading room. This building also houses the campus
network head end.
The most recent campus expansion project added a full computer network and
phone system with all instructional and administrative spaces interconnected
for distribution of data, voice and video signals between the buildings.
MAST was awarded the prestigious Blue Ribbon Schools Award from the United
States Department of Education in 1998.
